RAJSHAHI, June 19, 2024 (BSS) - All the government, semi-government and private offices including bank and financial institutions resumed today after the three-day Eid vacation and a two-day weekend.
Attendance at the City Bhaban, the offices of divisional commissioner and deputy commissioner, Rail Bhaban, water development board, sericulture building, RAKUB headquarters, RDA Bhaban, Barendra Bhaban, RMP headquarters and Roads and Highway building was thin as more than half of the officers and employees did not return yet from their native homes.
Sources concerned said the offices and courts will take their usual look from Sunday next, after the weekend.
However, some people were seen rushing to their respective offices to dispose of their pending urgent works on the opening day.
Meanwhile, a festive mood is prevailing at most of the offices.
Officials and employees were seen exchanging Eid greetings and hugging one another.
The people who went to their village homes to celebrate the Eid with their relatives have started to return to the city to join their works.
City streets still remain free from the usual traffic jams.
Many people, especially the teenagers, are still enjoying the festivity of the Eid in the city.
They were seen visiting the amusement spots, especially the bank of the river Padma, with enthusiasm and joy.
Thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city's parks, historic places and other recreational centres to enjoy the Eid-ul-Azha vacation.
