JASHORE, June 30, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to death for killing his sister-in-law in Bagharpara upazila in

the district in 2019.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Suraiya Begum handed down the verdict to Mohammad Shahabuddin, hailed from Pantapara village in the upazila.

The court also fined Shahabuddin Taka one lakh.

According to the prosecution on April 13 in 2019, Mohammad Shahabuddin stabbed his sister-in-law Zinia Yasmin Tuli to death at their house over family feud. Following the murder, Tuli's father filed a case.

Police pressed the charge sheet accusing Tuli's brother-in-law Shahabuddin, mother-in-law Farida Begum and her husband Zulfikar Ali.

Testifying witnesses and evidences, the court gave the order in absence of Shahabuddin.

Other accused Farida Begum and Zulfikar Ali were acquitted by the court order.
