BOGURA, July 1, 2024 (BSS) - Two people, including a child, were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Ranobagha area on the Bogura-Natore highway in Nandigram upazila of the district last night.

The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 35, son of Abdul Ghafoor, resident of Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district, and Bayezid, 3, son of Belal Hossain, resident of Mirpur upazila of Kushtia district.

The accident occurred in the area when a Bogura-bound covered van hit a standing truck from behind in the area around 11:30pm last night, leaving Sahidul Islam dead on the spot and three others injured, officer-in-charge(OC) of Kundarhat Highway Police Station Abbas Ali said.

Later, fire service personnel rescued the injured and took them to a hospital where child Bayezid died, he said.

The injured Belal Hossain and his wife Sathi Khatun,22 are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Police seized the covered van and brought to police station while the standing truck driver managed to flee with his truck from the scene, the OC added.
