BHOLA, July 2, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 4,550 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the Incentive and Rehabilitation Programme for the cultivation of Ropa Aman paddy in the current Kharif-2 season.
The incentive will be distributed among the 2,850 farmers to increase production of Ropa Aman paddy and 1700 farmers affected by the Cyclone Remal of the upazila.
To increase the interest of farmers in Ropa Aman cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the upazila, upazila agriculture officer Kamrul Hasan said.
Sadar Upazila Council Chairman Mohammad Yunus Miah inaugurated the distribution function as the chief guest and handed over the seeds and fertilizers among some farmers at a function held on the upazila parishad premises while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sajal Chandra Sheel was in the chair this afternoon.
Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman SM Ali Newaz Palash, Female Vice-Chairman Saleha Akhter Chowdhury and Upazila Agriculture Officer Kamrul Hasan, among others, spoke.
Upazila agriculture officer Kamrul Hasan said that each farmer will get five kgs of Ufshi Aman seed, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aman paddy on one bigha of land.
Rest of the seed and fertilizers will be distributed very soon, he added.
