RAJSHAHI, July 5, 2024 (BSS)- Administrative officials and academic experts unequivocally called for taking necessary preparations for Digital Assessment (DA) of examinations properly and successfully as it's the demand of current era.
They clarified that DA or electronic assessment is the delivery of assessments, tests, surveys, and other measures via digital devices such as computers, tablets, and mobile phones.
The primary goal of the DA is to be able to develop items, publish tests, deliver tests, and provide meaningful results – as quickly, easily, and validly as possible.
They came up with the observations while addressing the opening session of a two-day training workshop titled "Digitalization of Examination Assessment Method as per the National Curriculum- 2022 and Integration in Naipunya Platform (App)" here today.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rajshahi organized the workshop at its conference hall.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir addressed the session as the chief guest, while Chairman of the board Prof Oliul Alam was in the chair.
Board Secretary Prof Hummayun Kabir, Controller of Examinations Prof Ariful Islam, School Inspector Ziaul Haque and Senior System Analyst Engineer Shafiqul Islam also spoke. Deputy Controller of Examinations Monzur Rahman Khan welcomed the participants.
Capacity Development Expert from A2I Sifatul Islam and Education Expert Sazzad Hossain Khan conducted the training sessions as resource persons.
Commissioner Dr Humayun Kabir said globalization and digital technology are rapidly changing the world of education, human resources and professional development.
Teaching and learning are becoming more learner-centric and technology provides an opportunity for assessment to be integrated into the learning process with corresponding adjustments.
Furthermore, digital technology grants opportunities for teaching and learning to move their focus from content to critical thinking.
He also said teachers are already implementing new strategies in classrooms and assessment needs to reflect these changes as well.
Besides, the use of computers enables many modern benefits, from adaptive testing to tech-enhanced items.
So, there are no more times to remain in the conventional manual assessment method of examinations. "We have to take need-based preparations to replace the manual method with the digital systems," he added.

Board Chairman Dr Oliul Alam said the benefits of DA include setting up an automated grading system, more convenient and time-efficient than standard marking and grading procedures, which minimizes human error.
