LAKSHMIPUR, July 8, 2024 (BSS) - A man and his granddaughter were killed in a road accident on the Lakshmipur-Dhaka regional highway in the East Hajipara area under Sadar upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Nasir Uddin, and his granddaughter Mimi Akter, 4, hailing from Bhola district.

According to the eyewitnesses, they were going to Chattogram by a bus of Shahi Paribahan. On the way, the bus stopped at the pump to get oil in the area. They got off the bus and they were going to the shop on the opposite side of the road. At the same time, a Jamuna Paribahan bus hit them while crossing the road around 9am, leaving Mimi dead on the spot and Nasir seriously injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraganj Highway Police Ruhul Amin said.

The injured was taken to Sadar Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment, he said.

The bodies were kept on the hospital morgue.

Legal action will be taken in this connection, the OC added.
