RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2024 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in an anti-crime drive, arrested two alleged top-listed firearms traders with a firearm and ammunition in the district last night.
RAB sources said the arrested persons were identified as Tariqul Islam, 26, son of late Jamal Uddin and Selim Reza, 25, son of Muhammad Makim of Harirampur village under Bagha Upazila in the district, said the RAB sources here this noon.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in Rustampur area under Bagha upazila around 10.30 pm and arrested Tariqul and Selim with a foreign made pistol, two magazines and five rounds of bullets.
The RAB team detained the persons for their long-term involvement in firearms trading and trafficking. They were absconders of various criminal cases, including robbery, arms, kidnapping and drugs, for a long time.
A case was filed with Bagha Police Station in this connection and the arrested persons along with the seized firearm and ammunition were handed over to police this noon.
