NETRAKONA July 25, 2024 (BSS) -The historic Nazirpur Day, recalling the supreme sacrifice of seven valiant freedom fighters during the Liberation War in 1971, will be observed at Nazirpur area under Kalmakanda upazila in the district tomorrow.
"The day will be observed by paying glowing tributes to the memories of the heroic sons of the soil. Curfew will be relaxed in the district during the period between 6am to 7pm tomorrow (Friday) to facilitate the people, including freedom fighters, to join the programme," Deputy Commissioner of Netrakona district and also administrator of Muktizoddha Sangsad Netrakona district unit Shahed Parvez told BSS today.
Leaders of Muktijoddha Sangsad, Netrakona district unit, said on July 26, 1971, seven valiant freedom fighters embraced martyrdom in a front battle with Pakistani occupation forces in Nazirpur area where the Pakistani forces were defeated. During the battle, freedom fighters killed dozens of Pakistani soldiers.
The martyred freedom fighters were Mohammad Jamaluddin, Dr Abdul Aziz, Mohammad Fazlul Haque, Mohammad Year Mahmud, Bhobatosh Chandra Dash, Mohammad Nuruzzaman and Dijendra Chandra Biswas.
Netrakona District Muktijoddha Sangsad and district administration have jointly chalked out an elaborate program to observe the day.
The day's program will formally started in the morning with placing of wreaths at Nazirpur War Memorial Monument.
As part of the program, wreaths will also be placed at the burial grounds of martyred freedom fighters in the Langura frontier area, about three kilometers away from Nazirpur, tomorrow morning.
A Milad Mahfil and Quran Khawni will be held at Langura Bazar Jam-e-Mosque after Jummah prayers.
Apart from this, special prayers will also be offered at local mosques, temples, churches and other places of worships for the peace and salvation of the departed souls.
