CUMILLA, Aug 16, 2024 (BSS) - A mother and her son were killed while the father was injured after being hit by a covered-van on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sadar Dakshin upazila of the district yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

The deceased were identified as Mariam Akter, 20, wife of Yasin Miah of Chauddagram upazila of the district, and her one-year-four- month old son Alvi.

The accident occurred in the area when they were going to Bhagalpurin Cumilla Sadar Dakshin upazila from Chauddagram upazila riding a motorcycle. On the way, a covered van hit their bike around 1:30pm last afternoon, leaving two of them dead on the spot and another injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mainamati Crossing Highway Police Station Iqbal Bahar Majumdar said.

The injured was taken to Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila Health Complex, OC said.

The bodies were handed over to the family members, the OC added.
