KHULNA, Aug 19, 2024(BSS)-A court here today instructed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) to investigate against 10 to 12 police men including the then officer-in-charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar Police Station Md Hasan-Al -Mamun, in a case filed by A N M Fakrul Alam, former organizing secretary of city unit of BNP on charge of damaging his eyes.

The court also asked the DC-DB to submit its investigation report by October 24 next.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACCM) of Khulna Anisur Rahman gave this order today after Fakrul Alam filed the petition before the court.

Towhidur Rahman Tusher, lawyer of the complainant, said receiving the petition, the ACMM asked the DB to investigate it and submission the investigation report by October 24.

On January 5 in 2022, Fakrul, organizing secretary of the then city unit BNP received severe injuries in his eyes, head and body while police charge baton, hurled tear gas and bullets on him and other BNP men in front of city’s BNP office during a discussion and human chain marking the ‘Democracy Killing Day’called by central BNP.

Two eyes of Fakrul were damaged during the attacked of the then OC Mamun and other policemen, the lawyer said, quoting petition, adding, from then he lost his eye power after getting treatment from home and abroad.
