BRAHMANBARIA, Aug 22, 2024 (BSS) - Import and export between Bangladesh and India through Akhaura land port have remained suspended due to flood.

Senior Vice President of the C&F Agents Association Niser Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to BSS.

Over 1,000 families under Akhaura, Kasba and Bijoynagar upazilas have been affected due to the flood triggered by heavy rains and onrush of waters from the upstream in India.

All the government primary schools in Akhaura upazila have been declared as shelter centres.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Gajala Parveen Ruhi said more places were submerged today. Dry food is being distributed among the flood affected people, she added.
