RAJSHAHI, Sept 5, 2024 (BSS) - Speakers at an event underscored the need for devising ways and means in order to protect children through freeing them from all sorts of violence, repression, harassment and cruelty.
They, at a daylong inception meeting, elaborately discussed the ways of protecting children from all kinds of repression and torture.
On behalf of the project titled "Children No Better-Making Child Participation the Key to Improving the Effectiveness of Action against Sexual Exploitation of Children", the Association for Community Development (ACD) organized the meeting at Mohanpur Upazila Parishad hall room yesterday.
The project, being implemented in Rajshahi city and Godagari and Mohanpur upazilas, is intended to build a congenial atmosphere for the children through preventing them from all sorts of repression and oppression.
Peer educators and children leaders selected from the project-covering areas joined the meeting and they were given ideas and knowledge on how to protect their nearby children and youths from harassment and repression.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ayesha Siddika and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jobaida Akter addressed the meeting as resource persons.
Muhammad Ali Ahmed, Coordinator of the project, gave an overview of their project along with its aims, objectives and implementation strategy, while Programme Manager Monirul Islam gave an illustration of ACD's overall activities. Programme Officer Atia Tasnim welcomed the participants.
In separate group discussions, the participants discussed elaborately about the best uses of the national emergency services and communications.
