BARISHAL, Sept 19, 2024 (BSS) - Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community, will be celebrated at 45 mandaps in the Barishal metropolis this year.
The five-day-long festival will be celebrated from 9 October to 13 October with due respect and religious fervor across the country.
Idols makers at different places of the Barishal city are passing busy time as Sharodiya Durga Puja Utsab, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindus, is only a few days away.
Gopal Chandra Saha, general secretary of Barishal Mahanagar Puja Celebration Parishad, said that various steps have been taken to organize the autumn festival in a beautiful and peaceful manner.
Stringent security measures will be taken for smooth holding of the puja, he said, adding the law enforcement agency will be in place to ensure smooth celebration.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Delwar Hossain said that a meeting has already been held with members of the law enforcement forces and Hindu community people for the celebration of Durga Puja in a peaceful and festive atmosphere this year.
