HABIGANJ, Sept 21, 2024 (BSS) - Two children drowned while taking bath in a pond in Noaggao village of Bamoi union under Lakhai upazila of the district last evening (Friday).

The victims were identified as Sushi Akhter, 5, daughter of Sohag Miah, and Sohag's sister's daughter Barsha Akhtar, 4, residents of Noaggao village of Bamoi union under Lakhai upazila.

According to local sources, the two children went to take bath in a pond next to their house. At one stage, they drowned in the pond last evening.

The family members started searching in the evening and found them in the pond.

Then they were taken to the Lakhai Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty the doctor declared them dead.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Lakhai Police Station Abul Khair confirmed the matter.
