GOPALGANJ, Sept 25, 2024 (BSS) - A college student was killed and a battery-run easy-bike driver injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bijaypasha crossing area of Paikkandi union under Sadar upazila here last night (Tuesday).

The deceased was Rezwan Sardar, 24, son of Masum Sardar, a resident of Bijaypasha Purbapara village of the upazila. He was a third year student of Economics Department of Gopalganj Government Bangabandhu University College.

The accident occurred in the area when a passenger bus hit a battery-run easy-bike around 7:45 pm, leaving the easy bike passenger dead on the spot and injured its driver, sub-inspector (SI) of Bhatiapara Highway Police AKM Hasanuzzaman said.

The injured was taken to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital.

Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to the hospital morgue.

Police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee from the scene, the SI added.
