NATORE, Sept 28, 2024 (BSS) - The World Rabies Day-2024 was observed in the district today with the theme "Breaking Rabies Boundaries".
Marking the day, a rally was brought out from the premises of the District Livestock Office which paraded the important streets and ended at the same place.
After the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the District Livestock Office with District Livestock Officer Dr. Zulfikar Md. Akhtar Hossain in the chair.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Mostafa Zaman, Veterinary Surgeon Dr Mehdi Hasan and Senior Health Education Officer of the district Civil Surgeon Office Shafiqul Ferdous, among others, spoke.
The speakers said, "The government has taken effective steps to eliminate rabies in Bangladesh by 2030".
The World Rabies Day is a global healthcare event observed on September 28 every year since 2007, established by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC).
Various local and global communities gather to advocate awareness of rabies disease and discuss the various means (such as vaccination to pets, etc.) to avoid it on the day.
