NATORE, Sept 30, 2024 (BSS) - The National Girl Child Day-2024 was observed in the district today with a view to developing girl children as worthy citizens for building a prosperous Bangladesh.
The day is observed every year in the country on September 30 to show the importance of daughters.
Marking the day, the district administration and Department of Women Affairs jointly organized a discussion and devising ways and means on how to ensure equal rights for the girls' children.
A discussion was also held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office this morning with Deputy Commissioner (Acting) Md Masudur Rahman in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md. Roshan Ali, District Education Officer Md. Sahaduzzaman, Deputy Director of Women's Affairs Department Sharmin Shapla, Executive Director of non-government organization 'Nida' Jahanara Beauty, Executive Director of non-government organization 'Alo' Shibli Sadiq, among others, also spoke.
The officials of various government departments, leaders of registered women's associations, students of educational institutions, members of youth clubs and parents, among others, were present.
Besides, Bangladesh Shishu Academy of the district organized a discussion meeting at the district office marking the day.
