NAOGAON, Oct 1, 2024 (BSS) - The International Day of Older Persons was observed in the district today like elsewhere in the world.

The International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 every year. This day is dedicated to promoting the welfare of senior citizens and to raising awareness about the issues faced by them.

Marking the day, a rally was brought out from the Circuit House of the District which paraded the important streets and ended at the in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

After the rally, a discussion was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's Office while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Abdul Awal addressed the function as the chief guest.

Deputy Director of Social Services Department Sur Mohammad presided over the function.

Additional Superintendent of Police Fauzia Habib Khan, President of the District   unit of Bangladesh Probin Hitoishi Sangha  Abbas Ali Sardar, General Secretary Nazrul Islam, former Principal Professor Shariful Islam Khan, among others, spoke.

Various levels of members of the District unit of Probin Hitoishi Sangha were also present.
