BOGURA, Oct 2, 2024 (BSS) - Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community, will be celebrated at 632 mandaps in all twelve upazilas, including twelve Pourashavas, in the district this year.

The festival will begin on October 9 with due respect and religious fervor across the country and end on October 12 with immersion of the idols of goddess Durga and other deities.

District relief and rehabilitation officer Golam Kibria said, a total of 316 tonnes of rice has been allocated for 632 mandaps in the district this year for Durga Puja celebration.

He said rice distribution has already started and 500 kgs of rice has been given to each puja mandap in all upazilas, including the district town.

Meanwhile, the idol artisans are spending busy time. They have completed the work of making idols in every mandap of the district.

Idols of Goddess Durga are being created with the sweetness of the mind by scraping paint. Mandap preparation is going on to bring variety in decoration.
