GAIBANDHA, OCT 4, 2024 (BSS) - A union parishad member was reportedly killed in a road accident in the Dariapur Bazar area under Sadar upazila here early today.
 
The deceased was identified as Mostaq Ahmed, 45, son of late Sirajul Haque at Analertari village in upazila.
 
Local sources said, being a co-rider, Mostaq was returning home from Kabiler Bazar on a motorcycle with another person. When the motorcycle reached Dariapur Bazar area at around 2am, Mostaq fell into a roadside ditch from the motorcycle, leaving him critically injured. Then, he was rescued and taken to Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
 
However, Masum Hakkani, chairman of the UP, said many speculations had been created centering on the death as his family members alleged that he had been killed in a planned way.
 
Officer-in-charge of Sadar thana Masud Rana said after getting a post-mortem report, the reason behind the killing would be known.
