KURIGRAM, Oct 5, 2024 (BSS) - About 157mm rainfall was recorded in the district in the past 24 hours that caused huge public suffering especially to the lower income people as they could not go to works due to torrential rainfall.
Water Development Board (WDB) control room officials said they recorded 157mm rainfall in the last 24 hours till 3pm today and predicted that the rainfall may continue for several days.
While visiting the district town, it was observed that water logging plugged the town with knee level water due to heavy rainfall while most of the markets, shops and stores in the town were seen closed.
Movement of a few number of people were seen while day laborers
and lower income people were affected mostly by the downpour
as they could not go to work.
The WDB officials said though water of rivers, including Dharla, Dudhkumar and Brahmaputra, in the district are in increasing trend, there is no possibility of occurring floods this time.
