JOYPURHAT, Oct 20, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced 13 people to life-term imprisonment for killing a man 11 years back.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Nurul Islam handed down the verdict to Azizar Rahman, Shahadul Islam, Saidul Islam, Mozam, Moslem, Aminur, Abul Kashem, Asmot, Sekender, Shahin Molla, Akram Ali, Zinna and Abdus Sattar. They are the residents of Amuniapara in Khetlal upazila.

The court also fined each of the convicts Tk 50,000, in default, they will have to serve two years more in jail.

According to the prosecution, the convicts beat Firoj and his father Munsur Ali Fakir during a clash that took place over a calf on June 9, in 2013.

Firoj along with his father were admitted to Shaheed Zia Medical College Hospital first.

Later, Firoj died on the way to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka on June 14.
Munsur Ali Fakir filed a case with Khetlal Thana next day.
Police pressed the charge sheet on October 26 in the same year.
