GAIBANDHA, Oct 22, 2024 (BSS) - A three-day agricultural fair began today on the premises of Independence Square in the town aimed at inspiring the farmers to boost production of crops and vegetables through using the latest agro-technologies.
 
Sadar upazila agriculture office of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is organizing the fair under Rangpur Division Agriculture and Rural Development project.
 
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed inaugurated the fair as the chief guest and superintendent of police Mosarrof Hossain spoke as the special guest.
 
With deputy director of the DAE Krishibid Khorshed Alam Sarker in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by Sadar UNO Mahmud Al-Hasan and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, district unit, Abdul Karim.
 
The speakers stressed the need for boosting production of agri-crops and vegetables using latest agro-technologies to ensure sustainable food security of the country.
 
A large number of people including DAE officials, farmers, invited guests and media men attended the function.
 
A total of 20 stalls have been set up in the fair.
