KHULNA, Oct 28, 2024 (BSS)- The government here today has began selling potatoes, eggs, onions and vegetables through the Open Market Sale (OMS), aimed at providing relief to fixed-incoming people.

Department of Agriculture Marketing Department has taken the initiative, supported by TCB and BRTC.
 
The essential commodities are being selling out at city’s Shibbari moor, Bangladesh Bank Intersection, in front of Khulna Medical College road, Daulatpur Bus Stand and in front of Khalishpur Wonder Land Park at subsidized price.

Each person can buy a combo package of one dozen of eggs, three kgs of potatoes, one kg onion, one kg Potol and 750 gm pappya in a cost of Tk 320.

Director General (DG) of the Department of Agriculture Marketing Md Masud Karim inaugurated the OMS programme at Shibbari moor.

He said, the department is directly purchasing the commodities from the farmers and selling them to consumers from five locations in Khulna. The sale would continue till price of essentials would not be stable.

Senior government officials of the Khulna divisional were present on the occasion.
