CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 1, 2024 (BSS) - Three police personnel received injuries in an attack when they went to arrest a ward level Awami League leader at Gomostapur in Chapainawabganj district on Thursday evening.
Police during the overnight drive arrested 21 persons in connection with the attack, confirmed Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chapainawabganj Md. Rezaul Karim today.
He said that after interrogation, 13 of them were found involved in the incident and rest eight persons were released primarily. If their involvement with the incident is proved, necessary legal actions would be taken against them, he added.
Police said, a team of eight policemen from Gomostapur thana led by Sub-inspector Abul Kalam Azad went to Santaspur Bazar area under Bangabari union of Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Thursday evening to arrest Mintu Rahman, a ward Awami League leader of Bangabari union. Mintu is accused of a number of cases.
As the police team reached the area to arrest Mintu, a group of people launched attack on the police personnel.
