23 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

  RAJSHAHI, Oct 11, 2021 (BSS) - Twenty-three more people tested positive for Covid-19 in seven districts of the division on Sunday, taking the caseload to 98,593, since the pandemic began in March last year.

  However, the new positive figure is almost similar to the previous day's 22, which was lowest-ever since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country around six months back, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

  Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 94,449 in the division after another 16 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

  The death toll reached 1,666, including 685 in Bogura, 314 in Rajshahi with 191 in its city, and 173 in Natore, as no fresh case of fatality was reported during the period, Dr Talukder added.

  Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under treatment while 22,862 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 19,154 have been released.

  Meanwhile, 36 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 79 others were released from isolation during the same time.

  Of the 23 new cases, eight were detected in Rajshahi city, followed by four in Bogura, three each in Chapainawabganj and Natore, two each in Joypurhat and Pabna and one in Naogaon districts.

  With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 27,978 in Rajshahi, including 22,556 in city, 5,655 in Chapainawabganj, 6,392 in Naogaon, 8,358 in Natore, 4,608 in Joypurhat, 21,564 in Bogura, 11,370 in Sirajganj and 12,668 in Pabna.

  A total of 1,13,355 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

  Of them, 1,11,611 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
