Rangpur division records 3.12pc Covid-19 positivity rate

     RANGPUR, Oct 11, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 3.12 percent
Covid-19 positivity rate as 11 fresh cases were reported after testing 353
new samples at the two laboratories in the division on Monday.

     Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues improving amid
declining positivity and casualty rates and rising recovery rate during the
last two months in the division.

     Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.87 percent on
Sunday, 3.48 percent on Saturday, 2.47 percent on Friday, 6.11 percent on
Thursday, 6.85 percent on Wednesday and 2.87 percent on Tuesday last in the
division

     Among the 11 new patients, six were reported positive after diagnosing
165 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC)
in Rangpur at the daily positivity rate of 3.64 percent today.

     "The six new Covid-19 patients are hailing from different areas of
Rangpur district alone," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu
told BSS at 5:20 pm.

     On the other hand, five new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 2.66 percent today.

     "The five new Covid-19 infected patients include two each from Dinajpur
and Thakurgaon and one from Panchagarh districts," Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

     Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said
the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,152 as 11 new positive cases were
reported today from across the division.

     "The district-wise break up of total 55,152 patients include 12,431 of
Rangpur, 3,789 Panchagarh, 4,430 of Nilphamari, 2,736 of Lalmonirhat, 4,633
of Kurigram, 7,577 of Thakurgaon, 14,703 of Dinajpur and 4,853 of Gaibandha
in the division," he said.
