Durga Puja begins in Naogaon

   NAOGAON, Oct 11, 2021 (BSS) - The five-day long Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for the Bangalee Hindu community, began in the district with Goddess Bodhan like other parts of the country amid great enthusiasm and festive mood here today.

  The Durga Puja is being celebrated at 821 mandaps in the district with special arrangements amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic situation.

  The festival features puja, artai, recitation from the scriptures and distribution of prashad, offering of devotional songs and drumming.

  A large number of devotees have started visiting different puja mandaps to have a look at Goddess Durga. The government has already allocated 500-kg of rice for each puja mandap in the district.

  Decorations of temples, lighting, and setting up of mandaps have already turned into a festive look. The celebration will end through the immersion of idols of Goddess Durga on Bijoya Dashami.

  Meanwhile, stringent security measures were taken at every puja mandap in the district to avert any untoward incident during the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.

   Police administration of all the respective areas have chalked out elaborate security measures to make the celebration a success, superintendent of police (SP) engineer Abdul Mannan Miah, BPM said.

   Members of law the enforcement agencies have already been deployed in all the important area in the district, he added.
