KHULNA, Nov 11, 2024 (BSS) – A three-day long photo exhibition on the reality of water logging was inaugurated at Shaheed Hadis Park in the city today.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner and Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Md Helal Mahmud Sharif inaugurated the ceremony as chief guest.
In his opening speech Md Helal Mahmud Sharif stressing the need for creating awareness at individual level in solving water logging problem and said, “We need to change our careless behavior to keep the city clean”.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Islam, USAID Bangladesh representative Zahid Faruk, Director of Climate Change and Urban Development of BRAC Dr Md Liakat Ali, KCC’s Chief Engineer Moshiuzzaman and KCC’s Chief Planning Officer Abir-ul-Jabbar spoke on the occasion as special guests while KCC’s Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Laskar Tazul Islam presided over it.
Other speakers said Khulna city’s water logging is quite controllable and urged all concerned to work jointly to manage the water logging.
Head of Asia Resilient City Project Farhana Afroz focused on the purpose and context of the photography and photo-voice exhibition. The real picture of water logging in Khulna city has been shown through the photo exhibition.
Funded by USAID, KCC organized the event in collaboration with JSI, Recharge and Training Institute and BRAC Bangladesh.
