KUSHTIA, Nov 20, 2024 (BSS) A court here today sentenced three people to death sentence for murdering a woman and her son during a robbery in Doulatpur Upazila of the district in 2019.

Additional District and Session Judge Sohani Pushon handed down the verdict to Abu Hanif Mollah, hailed from the Joarderpara area, Ali Akber, a resident of Sonaikandi village, and Lal Chan Mondol.

 The court also fined each convict Tk 50000, in default the convicts would serve 1 year in jail.

According to the prosecution on 17 November 2019 the convicts strangled the woman Sanowara and her son Raj to death during a robbery at Sonaikandi village.

Sanowara's daughter filed a case with Doulatpur Thana accusing a few unnamed people. Police pressed the charge sheet on 27 December of the year.

Testifying witnesses and evidences the court passed the order in the presence of the convicts, said Additional Public Prosecutor Khadimul Islam.

Under another section in the case, the court also sentenced them to life term imprisonment and fined them Tk 50000 each.
