RAJSHAHI, Nov 23, 2024 (BSS) - Keyboard for mother tongue of Paharia, one of the ethnic minority communities in Barind area, was opened aimed at
familiarizing it to the present and future generations both at home and
abroad.
With this breakthrough, the language has entered into digital era as
South Asia's youngest language while it was officially recognized as the
295th language keyboard.
Rajshahi Divisional Ethnic Cultural Academy (RDEMCA) and the Pahariya Parishad organized the event today. Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir, divisional commissioner and chairman of the Academy's Executive
Committee, inaugurated the keyboard at the academy's
auditorium.
The programme included a discussion titled "Obstacle of mother tongue
practicing of Paharia Ethnic Minority and Way Forward".
The Commissioner addressed the meeting as the chief guest with RDEMCA Deputy Director Benjamin Tudu in the chair.

Mother tongue Expert of ethnic minorities Samar Michael Soren and student
Shishir Biswash also spoke.
Dr Kabir highlighted the significance of
language in human civilization. "Language has been playing important role for connecting humans with natures and technology, enriching knowledge and culture," he said
Among the living things, human beings have got special recognition only for their languages.
