Panchagarh, Nov 24, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 12, 547 juvenile girls have been given Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines aimed at protecting them from being attacked with various diseases, particularly cervical cancer in Debiganj upazila here.
Ninety four percent of the target has been fulfilled as a total of 12, 547 juvenile girls out of 12,711 have got the vaccines, said upazila health and family planning officer Dr Lutful Kabir at the coordination meeting on HPV vaccination campaign at his office room here today.
The cent percent target would be achieved within the fixed timeframe which is November 28, he expressed hope.
The girls aged between 10 to 14 years are being given the vaccines during the campaign with a view to preventing cervical cancer among girls and women, he said.
Upazila family planning officer Abu Bakkar, secondary officer Saiful Islam, primary education officer Ajmol Hossain, students' representatives Kalid Mahamud and Ohasis apart from journalists were present at the meeting.
