RANGPUR, Dec 1, 2024 (BSS) - Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh leaders in a protest rally here today said that extremist organisation ISKCON is conspiring to incite communal riots in Bangladesh by spreading false information and rumors.
They said this at a protest march followed by a rally, organized by Hefazat-e-Islam, demanding speedy trial of the killers of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, who was hacked to death in the Chittagong court premises, and an immediate ban on ISKCON.
The protest march was taken out from the Public Library ground and passed through Paira Chattar, Jahaj Company Mour and Press Club Chattar and ended at the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises in Kachari Bazar.
Later, the Hefazat-e-Islam leaders submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner demanding immediate cessation of all activities of ISKCON and its banning, calling ISKCON a radical militant organization.
Central Nayeb-e-Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Maulana Muhammad Yunus, its Rangpur district unit Convener Hafez Idris Ali and member-secretary Maulana Rezaul Karim and other leaders addressed the rally, held at the Public Library ground.
The speakers said that the country’s defeated fascist Awami League regime is making a despicable attempt to destroy peace in this country by using a section of Hindus through India.
With the direct support of India, ISKCON is creating chaos in the society by spreading false information, rumors and propaganda while the entire history of ISKCON in Bangladesh is full of fights, violence and extremism.
The Hefazat-e-Islam leaders said the terrorists of ISKCON are constantly committing incidents of land grabbing, temple grabbing and communal harmony destruction in various ways.
They said people from all walks of life in the country are saying that Hindus are safer than ever before while ISKCON is conspiring to incite communal riots by spreading false information and rumors at the behest of India.
People also believe that under Indian prescription, ISKCON has purposely vandalized the mosque, the holiest place for Muslims, in the Chattogram court premises, thereby hurting the religious sentiments of the majority of citizens.
Maulana Muhammad Yunus said that Hefazat-e-Islam strongly demands that all ISKCON activities in Bangladesh be banned instantly and justice must be ensured for the murder of the lawyer and the culprits in the mosque vandalism must be brought to justice.
He said, “There is no opportunity to shelter Indian aggression in Bangladesh. If the government delays in banning ISKCON and fails to take action against the conspirators, then Hefazat-e-Islam will continue the movement in the future.”
