KHULNA, Dec 9, 2024 (BSS) - With the theme, "Uniting with Youth against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow's Integrity," the International Anti-Corruption Day was observed in the city today in a befitting manner.
Marking the day, Khulna district administration, in cooperation with Khulna Anti-Corruption Commission and District Anti-Corruption Prevention Committee, organized a discussion held at the conference room with Khulna Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Saiful Islam in the chair.
Khulna divisional commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while Director of Local Government in Khulna Md Tabibur Rahman, Director of Anti-Corruption Commission Zalal Uddin Ahmad, Deputy Director Abdul Wadud, and President of District Anti-Corruption Prevention Committee Principal Dr. Moni Mohon Saha addressed the event as special guests.
The chief guest, in his speech, stressed the need for enhancing awareness programs at relevant offices and educational institutions for building a crime-free society.
"It is high time to prevent corruption. We cannot keep an uneven path of corruption for our future generation. We want to establish such a country that will be free from all sorts of corruption," he said.
The chief guest also urged all to raise their voices against corruption to eliminate the long-persisting social menace effectively.
Mentioning that corruption hinders economic development, the speakers in the meeting said poverty, exploitation, and injustice increase due to corruption, apart from preventing good governance and accountability and transparency.
Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated the day by hoisting the national flag and releasing balloons.
A human chain was also formed in front of DC's office, marking the day.
