Forging social resistance against corruption underscored

RAJSHAHI, Dec 9, 2024 (BSS) - Forging social movement as well as resistance
against corruption can be the crucial means of establishing disparity-free
atmospheres everywhere in the society.

Spontaneous participation of the community and the young generation as a
whole towards the anti-corruption campaign has also become indispensable for
building mass-opinion against corruption.

Members of the civil society and experts made the observation while
addressing a discussion at Zila Parishad Auditorium in the city today.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and District and Divisional
Administrations jointly organised the discussion to mark the International
Anti-Corruption Day-2024.

This year's theme "Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow's
Integrity" gave the opportunity to look back at the wide range of activities
provided to athletes in Paris and Gangwon.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Khandaker Azim Ahmed addressed the meeting
as the chief guest while Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Alamgir
Rahman, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Muhammad Abu Sufiyan and
Deputy Commissioner Afiya Akhter spoke as special guests with ACC Director
Kamrul Ahsan in the chair.

The discussants unanimously observed that importance should be given on
empowerment of the community to check corruption at institutional and
individual level.

Institutional corruptions have to be checked first before taking lawful
action against a person who is involved with corruption willingly or
unwillingly.

Commissioner Khandaker Azim Ahmed underlined the need for building capacity
among the community people so that they can raise their voice against
corruption.

"It's high time that we have to prevent corruption. We can't keep an uneven
path of corruption for our future generation. We want to establish such a
country which will be free from corruption," he reiterated.

He laid importance on making both the government and non-government service-
delivery activities transparent and accountable for freeing those from
corruption.
