KHULNA, Dec 10, 2024 (BSS) - The fourth Economic Census 2024 of the country 
began in Khulna today in a bid to gain a detailed perception about the 
structural changes of the country's economy that took place with the passage 
of time.
 
On the occasion, an inauguration rally, led by Divisional Commissioner Md 
Firoz Sarkar, was held in front of Khulna Divisional Commissioner Office 
premises.
 
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Hussain Shawkot, Director of 
Local Government at the divisional office Md Tabibur Rahman, Joint Director 
of Divisional Statistics Office Md Akter Hossain and officers of different 
government offices, among others, joined the rally.
 
The census will continue in Khulna and elsewhere of the country till December 
26 except December 16 and December 25, utilizing a fully digital system.
 
The slogan of the economic census is "Orthanaitik Shumarite Tathya Din, Notun 
Bangladesh Binirmane Ongsha Nin."
 
During the census, a total of 10,746 counting men, 2,076 supervisors, 282 IT 
supervisors and 282 zonal officers are being worked under two coordinators in 
Khulna division.
 
In the main census activities list, various information including all houses 
with existing economic activities, institutional agro farms and type of firms 
ownership, structure, legal status and type of activities will be collected 
and preserved. 
 
The Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) system is being used for 
the first time during the census.
