KHULNA, Dec 10, 2024 (BSS) - Different organisations today observed the
International Human Rights Day in the city with the theme "Our Rights, Our
Future, Right Now".
On the occasion, Adhikar, a non government organisation (NGO), formed a human
chain programme in front of Khulna Press Club.
Family members of disappearance victims, human rights activists and
journalists, among others, attended the event.
Chaired by focal person of Adhikar Muhammad Nuruzzaman, the rally was
addressed, among others, by Citizen Leader Sarder Abu Taher, Assistant
Secretary of Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union Ehetashamul Haq Shaon and
MUJ leaders Razzak Rana and Ziaus Sadat.
Marking the day, Community Forum, a mass awareness and human resource
development project of 'ADAMS' Foundation, brought out a procession that
started from Daulatpur Mohsin intersection and ended at the independence
memorial of Government Brajalal College, Khulna after parading main roads of
the city.
Freedom fighter and ex-KCC mayor Moniruzzaman Mony, who was also the trustee
of the foundation, and members of all 24 ward committees joined the rally.
Executive Director of ADAMS Foundation S M Ali Aslam, Programme Coordinator
Mizanur Rahman Raza, ex-KCC Councilor and President of Ward No-5 committee
Sheikh Kamruzzaman and community forum leader Abdul Mannan Sheikh, addressed
the event.
While speaking at the rally, the speakers underscored the need for completing
the trial of previous cases of human rights violation and providing justice
to all victims who waited for years.
