GAIBANDHA, Dec 10, 2024 (BSS) - International Human Rights Day-2024 was
observed in the district as elsewhere in the country and the globe today with
a call to ensure human rights in every sphere of the society.

This year's theme of the day is "Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now".

Marking the day, Unity for Universe Human Rights of Bangladesh Foundation,
Gaibandha chalked out elaborate programmes.

The day's programmes started through bringing out a rally from the municipal
park of the town this morning which ended at Shaheed Minar premises after
parading the main thoroughfares of the district town.

Later, a discussion on the significance of the day was also held on the
premises of the Shaheed Minar with the President of the foundation, district
unit Md. Khairuzzaman in the chair.

The meeting was also addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the
foundation, district unit, Mahfuzar Rahman Swapon and human rights activists
Anisul Haque Dulu, Md. Nuruzzaman Sarkar, Md. Abdul Quader, Md. Badsha
Haqqani, Mocha Mortuza Banu and Zahurul Haque Raja Miah.

The speakers discussed human rights issues in detail and highlighted various
issues to make the foundation more dynamic in the future.

A large number of human rights activists, social workers and volunteers
participated in the programmes.
