PIROJPUR, Dec 12, 2024 (BSS) - Eight shops were gutted at Sriramkathi Bazar in Nazirpur upazila of the district last night.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop of Sriramkathi Bazar around 11:30 pm and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments, said Nazirpur Fire Service Station Officer Soayeb Hossain.

Being informed, three firefighters units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals and affected businessmen after one hour of efforts, he said.

The extent of the damage of the fire is about Taka 50 lakh, the shop owners claimed.
