RANGPUR, Dec 13, 2024 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined two fertiliser traders

Taka 55,000 for selling fertilizer at an excessive price in Gangachara
upazila of the district.

Gangachara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zannatul Ferdous Urmi
conducted the mobile court at Chowdhurirhat Bazar in Barabil union of the
upazila on Friday afternoon and realised the fine.

Earlier, local farmers lodged allegations that the traders were creating an
artificial crisis and selling fertilizers at an excessive price.

On the basis of the allegation, the mobile court conducted the drive and
fined fertilizer trader Lablu Miah Taka 30,000 and fertilizer trader Rohidul
Islam Taka 25,000 at Chowdhurirhat Bazar for selling fertilizers at an
excessive price.

Gangachara Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturalist Syed Shahinur Islam
and police officers were present at the time.

Gangachara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zannatul Ferdous Urmi told
reporters that the two traders have been fined for selling fertilizer at an
excessive price while the other traders in the same market have been warned.

"This campaign will continue in the public interest in the future," she
added.
