'Library-oriented young generation crucial for building new Bangladesh'

RANGPUR, Dec 15, 2024 (BSS) - The young generation should be encouraged to go
to libraries to acquire the right knowledge to build a new Bangladesh in the
spirit of the 1971 Liberation War and the July Mass Uprising 2024.
 
The opinion came at the first memorial lecture of late poet and writer Setu
Ashraful Haque held at the hall of 'Anandapath School' in Bakshirpul area of
Mahiganj in Rangpur city on Saturday evening.
 
Setu Ashraful Haque Memorial Library organised the lecture marking the 10th
death anniversary of the late poet and writer and the one-decade anniversary
of the Setu Ashraful Haque Memorial Library, established in memory of the
writer.
 
Publication house 'Monduar' and 'Anandapath School' extended assistance in
arranging the memorial lecture dedicated to the martyred intellectuals of
1971 and the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising 2024.
 
Ahmed Moudud, headmaster of 'Anandapath School' and general secretary of Setu
Ashraful Haque Memorial Library, presided over the programme.
 
Associate Professor of the Department of English of Begum Rokeya University
Md Ali Raihan Sarkar addressed the memorial lecture on the topic of "The Joy
of Education, the Disappointment in Education: Academic Lessons, Library and
Others" as the keynote speaker.
 
Central leader of the 'Gono Songhoti Andolon' Deepak Roy, the Ombudsman of
the State Reform Movement Advocate Raihan Kabir, teacher and social activist
Lipi Debgupta, lecturer of Mahiganj Degree College Sujan Pramanik, former
teacher of Tajhat High School Shikha Rani Sarkar and poet Sharif Ur Rahman
participated in the discussion.
 
Teachers and students of different educational institutions, litterateurs,
writers, poets, professionals and civil society members attended the
programme.
