International Migrants Day observed in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Dec 18, 2024 (BSS) - International Migrants Day-2024 was observed in the district as elsewhere in the country and the globe today with a call to build a discrimination-free beautiful Bangladesh by ensuring the rights of the migrants.

Marking the day, district administration and the office of District Employment and Manpower Office at the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment directives jointly chalked out elaborate programmes in cooperation with non-government organizations.

In the morning a grand rally was brought out from the DC office and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the district town.

Then, a discussion meeting on the importance of the day was held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here with additional ADC (General) AKM Hedayetul Islam Rahman in the chair.

Additional superintendent of police Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, principal of Gaibandha Govt College Professor Khalilur Rahman, Sadar UNO Mahmud Al-Hasan, principal of TTC here Engineer Abdur Rahim and coordinator- of Media SKS Foundation Ashraful Alam spoke at the function among others.

The speakers in their speeches said that the migrant workers of the country are making a significant contribution to the building of beautiful Bangladesh for the next generations.

They also said the government is working to turn the youths of the country into skilled forces by providing them with technical training and for this, 64 technical training centers have been established across the country to enable them to go abroad with proper training.
