TANGAIL, Dec 18, 2024 (BSS) - Two people were killed as their motorcycle collided head-on with a pickup van in Borobaide area under Madhupur upazila of the district early this morning.

The deceased were Hafej Habibur Rahman, 20, son of Jalal Uddin, a resident of Shalchura village under Jhenaigati upazila in Sherpur district and Hafej Hasan Siraji, 18, son of Sahidul Shikder of Muradpatti-Chualipara village under Nagarpur upazila in Tangail district.

Habibur and Hasan were the imam and muezzin of Kakraid Ramakrishnabari Mosque in Madhupur upazila.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 5.30am when they were going to the mosque for Fajr prayer riding a motorcycle, said Emranul Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Madhupur Police Station.

Both of them died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
