RANGPUR, Dec 18, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (BJI) today handed over blankets among 500 cold-stricken poor and distressed people here to mitigate their sufferings.
Party's Rangpur metropolitan unit organised a function on distribution of blankets as its Assistant Secretary General and Rangpur-Dinajpur region's director Maulana Abdul Halim said his party will not eat up state resources if it comes to power.
Halim was addressing the occasion held at Barabari Boyez Uddin High School ground in the city as the chief guest on Wednesday afternoon.
Calling on the countrymen to build a just, beautiful, humane and harmonious Bangladesh after the July 24 revolution, he said, "We want to build a Bangladesh where teachers, workers and ordinary people will all enjoy their rights."
He said, "Anyone will get respect based on his honesty, ability and merit. The son of a rickshaw puller will become a university teacher based on merit. If a cleaning worker's son wants to study and move forward, he will be given an opportunity."
Central Majlish-e-Sura member of Jamaat and its Rangpur Metropolitan Ameer Vice-principal ATM Azam Khan, its Secretary Anwarul Haque Kajal, Publicity, Law and Media Affairs Secretary Advocate Kawsar Ali were present as special guests.
Presided over by Kotwali Thana Ameer of the party Maulana Golam Kibria, its Hazirhat Thana Ameer Md Belal Hossain moderated the function.
