CHATTOGRAM, Dec 19, 2024 (BSS) – Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain here today urged the city dwellers to pay holding tax regularly for achieving self-sufficiency in CCC’s expenditure for building a developed city.

He made the call during hearing on ‘P’ form for disposal of objections on fixed taxes at Review Board for ward no 1, 7 and 8 circles.

Mayor Shahadat said CCC is spending its collected revenue to ensure all civic services including garbage cleaning and road repairing.

Besides, the CCC has to bear huge expenditure for running 82 educational institutions and 56 health centers with the revenue.

 “We’ve set up Review Board to justify the holding taxes for eligible house owners so that city dwellers can’t face any hassle in paying taxes. But affluent house owners have a tendency and use influences to evade taxes,” the mayor said, issuing a note of warning that the authorities will take stern legal action against the tax dodgers.  

The mayor asked the CCC employees not to stop revenue collection ignoring any sorts of illegal pressure from any quarter or individuals.

 He also urged the CCC employees to play due role for the development of Chattogram through gearing up revenue collection as per the rules.

 A total of 169 appeal petitions have been disposed of by the Review Board.
