KCC implementing Tk 77cr project

KHULNA, Dec 20, 2024 (BSS)- Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has been implementing a Taka 77-crore project for waste management and an approach road.

Under the 'Second Urban Region Development' project, a waste management plant is being established at Shalua landfill at a cost of Taka 55 crore, while the Khulna University of Science and Technology (KUET) approach is being implemented at a cost of Taka 22 crore.

Already, 53 percent of the works were completed and the entire work is expected to be complete by June next year.

The Government of Bangladesh and Asian Development Bank (ADB) are jointly extending financial support for implementing the project.

Upon successful implementation of the waste management plant, diesel, power and compost fertilizer will be generated through recycling 375 tonnes of waste daily.

These were revealed in a review meeting between loan review mission officials from ADB and KCC officials at a city hotel today.

KCC Administrator Firoj Sarker, Chief Executive Officer Lasker Tajul Islam, Secretary Sharif Asif Rahman, Chief Engineer Masiuzzaman Khan, Superintending Engineer Abdul Aziz and Project Director Hamidul Haque were present at the meeting.

On behalf of the ADB, Mission Leader Abdullah Al Mamun, Project Analyst Urmi Bhattacharia, Associate Safeguard Analyst Salma Jahan and Associate Project Analyst Minhajur Rahman Khan were present.
