KHULNA, Dec 21, 2024 (BSS) - Speakers at a stakeholder’s seminar here viewed that integrated efforts of quarters concerned can be the best way of building discrimination-free society.
People of the country have got a new Bangladesh through the sacrifice of the students-people. The fight of the sacrifice will remain as a big success and milestone if the people can uphold the spirit of the July-August.
The Press Information Department (PID) and Regional Information Office jointly organized the seminar titled "Discrimination-free Bangladesh and Good Governance" at the conference hall of Circuit House on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Saiful Islam addressed the seminar as the chief guest, while Deputy Principal Information Officer ASM Kabir was in the chair. Senior Information Officer Mehedi Hassan welcomed the participants.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sushanta Sarker and Director of Export Promotion Bureau Zinat Ara Ahmed, among others, also spoke.
During his keynote presentation, Senior Deputy Principal Information Officer Zaveh Iqbal illustrated the aims and objectives of the seminar.
In his remarks, DC Saiful Islam said journalists are the conscience of the nation. Journalists must present informative, true, objective and constructive news, so that it brings welfare to the country and the nation.
Many complaints and problems of the suffering people remain unnoticed by the administration, if they are highlighted in the newspapers, the concerned administration can quickly take necessary steps to resolve them.
He called for forging social resistance against yellow journalism for national interests.
Terming yellow journalism as detrimental to the national progress and prosperity, he said journalism should be freed from all sorts of misinformation, disinformation and mal-information.
