KHULNA, Dec 23, 2024 (BSS)-A meeting of the district law and order committee was held here today with the call for maintaining discipline, peace and tranquility everywhere in the society.
 
The meeting held at the office conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) discussed and devised ways and means on how to attain the cherished goal collectively.
 
With DC Muhammad Saiful Islam in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Superintendent of Police (SP) Mosharraf Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Bitan Kumar Mondal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Ahsan Habib, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Muhammad Kamal Hossain.
 
The meeting was apprised that utmost measures were taken to make the law and order situation normalized with integrated efforts of all offices in the district during the changed situation.

Ahsan Habib told the meeting some of the listed criminals were arrested with arms. Special security measures were taken in all the churches for successful celebration of the forthcoming Christmas day. There is no concern relating to the celebration of happy New Year and Christmas.

SP Mosharraf Hossain said police surveillance in the Dakop, Koira and Paikgachha Upazilas has been enhanced to combat the Sundarbans related robbery. There is an urgent need for generating awareness among the public in general to stop  the tendency of taking law in hands in the name of mob justice.

DC Muhammad Saiful Islam said monitoring activities in the markets will continue to arrest price hikes of essentials. Importance should be given on intensifying security measures in the crime-prone areas.
