RANGPUR, Dec 26, 2024 (BSS) - The Bibhagiyo Lekhok Parishad (BLP) has started distributing high quality quilts to cold-stricken people to mitigate their sufferings from cold in Rangpur city.
On the first day of the quilt distribution programme, leaders of the organisation distributed 50 quilts in a function organized at the Rangpur North Bridge School campus in Munshipara area of the city on Wednesday afternoon.
President of BLP and former Rangpur Municipal Chairman Kazi Md Junnun presided over the function.
With the financial support of Professor Dr Samina Chowdhury, a physician working in Dhaka city, the quilts were distributed as a gift among helpless, distressed and destitute men and women of Rangpur city.
The recipients were overjoyed to receive quilts to keep warm before the cold wave arrived.
Advisory board member of BLP Principal Khandaker Fakhrul Anam Benju, its Vice-president Rashidul Islam Chowdhury, Rangpur District Committee President ATM Morshed, General Secretary Zakir Ahmed, Organizing Secretary Mostafiz Rahman, Assistant General Secretary Shariful Alam Apu, Finance Secretary Laila Shirina, Literature and Publication Secretary Maznur Rahman, Joint Organizing Secretary Deepak Sarkar Topu, Assistant Information Technology Secretary Muyeed Ul Islam, Assistant Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nusrat Khanam Upma, Environment Affairs Secretary Mehrajul Islam Cairo, journalist Siddiqur Rahman, among others, were present at the distribution ceremony.
