SHERPUR, Dec 29, 2024 (BSS) - Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw near Vatshala Jorapump in Sadar upazila here this noon.

Of the deceased, four were identified as honours student Maysa Tasnim Mim and her brother Kamruzzaman, siblings of Sahajahan Ali who is resident of Kingkarpur-Munshibazar under Nakla upazila of the district, Mokhlesur Rahman of Alinapara in Sadar upazila and auto-rickshaw driver Lokman Hossain.

The accident took place on the Sherpur-Mymensingh road at 12 noon when a bus of 'Rifat Paribahan' collided head-on with a CNG-run auto- rickshaw, leaving five auto-rickshaw passengers dead on the spot and injuring another person, said Jubaidul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station.

The injured was sent to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sherpur Sadar Hospital morgue.
